Mother’s Day

March 20th, 2008

Mother’s day is for everyone a special occasion throughout the year. Saying it with flowers becomes a creative pleasure and is a wonderful possibility to invite your mother for a cosy luncheon or a laid back afternoon tea. There is hardly a more suitable symbol for a composition in heart shape to demonstrate love and affection.

This table has been covered with a piece of transparent violet fabric complementing a crème coloured table cloth, which is crowned with violet and mauve coloured skeleton leaves. The colours of the heart shape plates are repeated in the arrangement. I selected bright cheerful colours for this special designed heart, made of roses. This can easily be fashioned by floral design beginners and can be made with all kinds of flowers.

Material:

  • Secateur
  • Knife
  • Florist’s foam in heart shape
  • Roses

mai-step01.jpgStep 1:
I especially pay attention that all required materials for my designs are easily available for everyone and the instructions for the floral techniques are easy to follow. Prepare the accessories and give the cut roses a good drink for a few hours in plenty of water, prior to arranging. Before, you must of course remove any remaining leaves from the stems.

mai-step02.jpgStep 2:
Make sure that the foam is sufficiently wet before arranging. Now trim the rose stems as needed and pay attention as you built up the display to ensure that it is balanced and there are no gaps. It is preferable to start arranging from the middle towards the outside.
